The Museo del Caracol is located near Chapultepec Castle, and has been open for over fifty years. Its goal is to promote imagination and knowledge in thousands of people, in particular children, through teaching history in a fun way. It is the perfect complement to the History Museum, which is located inside the Castle.
The History Gallery at the Museo del Caracol is the perfect place to learn about history through models, photos and paintings. Modern history’s past converges here, from the dawn of Independence, up to the enactment of the current 1917 constitution.
Conspiracies, armed uprisings, fragile governments, large battles, but also tragic moments, and defeats and failures are part of this museum, which was designed to exercise the sense of sight and thought. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, there are workshops, concerts, storytelling, summer courses and more.
