Fernando Iglesias Calderón #93-A, Col. Jardín Balbuena. 15900
What it is. A Japanese restaurant open since 1998 in Jardín Balbuena, with a menu of more than two hundred dishes, sushi and teppan, and a long list of imported drinks and wines.
The detail that sets it apart. On Sundays there is live jazz and bossa nova. That is unusual in the east of the city, where live music is scarce, and it turns Sunday lunch into something else.
What to order. With a menu that long, the sensible move is to be guided: teppan if you come as a group — the cook works the hotplate in front of the table — and sushi if you prefer the bar. As almost everywhere in Mexico, the rolls lean to the local version, with cream cheese and breading.
Practicalities. Open every day from 13:00 to 22:00. Fernando Iglesias Calderón #93, in Jardín Balbuena: Metro Balbuena and Boulevard Puerto Aéreo, line 1, and Fray Servando, line 4, are all nearby, and the airport is about fifteen minutes away.
