Félix Parra #25, Col. San José Insurgentes. 03900
The house. El Fogoncito has been running for more than forty-nine years, founded by Don Francisco Rocha — El Güero to his friends — around a marinade he developed himself, combining ginger, almond, nutmeg and ingredients the family has never made public. That Receta Tradicional is why the chain is one of the names consistently put forward as the best tacos al pastor in the country.
What to order. Al pastor off the trompo, with pineapple, onion and coriander. Salsas come separately; taste before you pour, because the range is not announced.
This branch. On Félix Parra, in San José Insurgentes — a quiet residential pocket between Mixcoac and the Insurgentes Sur corridor, with no tourist traffic. It is a sit-down taquería with table service, so it works as a first taco for anyone wary of a street stand.
Practical notes. Félix Parra #25. Metro Barranca del Muerto and Mixcoac, line 7, are within walking distance, and the Insurgentes Metrobús runs a few streets east. Takeaway and delivery available; cards accepted.
