Av. Paseo de La Reforma #80, Col. Juárez. 06600
What it is. A café-restaurant on Paseo de la Reforma, at the colonia Juárez end — the stretch between the historic centre and the Zona Rosa, lined with offices, hotels and the monuments that make the avenue what it is.
What it is useful for. Breakfast and a working morning. Mexican breakfast is savoury and substantial — chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, enfrijoladas — and a café on Reforma is one of the few places you can have it early, with coffee refills and a table you can sit at.
Where it puts you. Within walking distance of the Monumento a la Revolución, with its viewing deck and panoramic lift; the Alameda Central, the oldest public park in the Americas; the Palacio de Bellas Artes; and the Zona Rosa. The Ángel de la Independencia is further west along the same avenue.
The one morning to plan around. On Sunday mornings Reforma closes to traffic for cyclists, runners and open-air exercise classes. Breakfast on the avenue with the cars gone is the pleasantest two hours a visitor can have here, and it costs nothing.
Practical notes. Av. Paseo de la Reforma #80, colonia Juárez. Metro Hidalgo, lines 2 and 3, and Juárez, line 3; the Reforma Metrobús stops outside.
