Vips Chilpancingo

The chain. Vips is Mexico's most widespread coffee-shop restaurant chain: a broad menu of Mexican and international dishes, breakfast all day, free coffee refills and mid-range prices. For a visitor it solves three specific situations — breakfast early, before anything else opens; something predictable when you do not want to gamble; and a clean toilet plus wi-fi without spending much. All branches take cards.

This branch. On Insurgentes Sur, on the boundary between Roma Sur and the Condesa, right on the corridor the Metrobús runs along. It is the neutral, cheap option in an area where almost everything else is chef-driven and costs three times as much.

Getting there and when. Metro Chilpancingo, line 9, is a few steps away and the Metrobús stops opposite. No parking of its own, and regulated street parking all around. It closes at 20:00: breakfast and lunch, not dinner. Parque México is ten minutes on foot.
