The Museum of Technology of the Federal Electricity Commission, better known as MUTEC, opened on 20 November 1970. It was the first science museum in Latin America.
Since its facilities were refurbished in 2000, the museum has become one of the most modern and best-equipped interactive spaces in Mexico. It presently has four rooms where interesting exhibitions designed for children are displayed, which are focused on energy, the environment, electricity and science in general.
Worthy of note is its impressive planetarium, which offers interesting scientific screenings and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Those who love automobiles and all things related can visit the transport section, including the “El Olivo” presidential train, which is a national heritage item.
