El Buen Bife Insurgentes

What it is. An Argentine steak house on Insurgentes Sur, in Del Valle, done up as a Buenos Aires backstreet with tango: the figure of Carlos Gardel presides over the concept. Grilled cuts in a formal restaurant format.

What to order. The classic Argentine cuts — bife de chorizo, vacío, entraña — and sweetbreads to start, the opener that separates the regulars from everyone else. Chimichurri comes with the meat; sides are ordered separately and are big enough to share.

When to go. Monday to Saturday from 13:00 to midnight, Sundays until 22:00. Weekend lunch is its busiest moment and worth booking.

Getting there. Insurgentes Sur #1248. Metrobús line 1 runs along the avenue and stops very close; Metro Niños Héroes and Hospital General are not far. There is valet parking in the area.
