13 Corredor Cultural Roma-Condesa

An invitation to society to take on the streets and enjoy tours with experts in architecture, arts, gastronomy, music, accessories and exclusive fashion at Colonia Roma and Condesa. There is no specific starting point, depending on the likings and interests of visitors. The event takes place twice a year, at the beginning and end of the year. The dates change each edition and is not yet confirmed for 2015. You need to consult the billboard.

This edition has finished. The page covers the 13th Corredor Cultural Roma-Condesa, one instalment of the street festival that for several years filled the two neighbourhoods with open-air concerts, design markets, gallery openings and food stalls over a weekend. That edition is past.

What the festival was. A free weekend event built around the Roma and the Condesa, using their squares and tree-lined medians — Plaza Río de Janeiro, Plaza Luis Cabrera, Parque México, Avenida Ámsterdam — as venues. It drew on the galleries, studios and independent shops that make the district what it is.

What is there now, any weekend. The two neighbourhoods carry most of that programme permanently: the Sunday antiques market at Plaza Río de Janeiro, the galleries around Colima and Córdoba, the Mercado Roma, El Péndulo and the bookshops on Ámsterdam, and the Parque México art deco circuit. The walk is the attraction.

Getting there. Metro Insurgentes, Sevilla and Chilpancingo all land on the edge of the district, and Metrobús line 1 runs along Insurgentes between them. Everything inside is walkable; parking is not worth attempting.
