This exhibition has closed. Rise, by Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca, was shown at the Museo Jumex, in Polanco. It is no longer on display, and this page is kept for reference.
What it was. Wagner and de Burca work between documentary and fiction, filming performers in their own communities. Rise was filmed with young spoken-word poets in Toronto; the pair represented Brazil at the Venice Biennale in 2019.
What is at the Jumex now. The museum, designed by David Chipperfield and opened in 2013, holds one of the most important contemporary art collections in Latin America and changes its temporary programme several times a year. Admission is free. It closes on Mondays.
Getting there. Blvd. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra #303, Ampliación Granada, in Plaza Carso — the Museo Soumaya stands in the same square, so the two are done in one visit. Metro San Joaquín and Polanco, line 7, are the nearest stations, and the area has paid parking. Check the current programme before going.
