What this section covers. The one-off dates that do not fit anywhere else: city-wide nights, anniversaries, open-door days and the large-scale events the city stages in its public space.
The recurring ones worth planning around. Noche de Museos, on the last Wednesday of most months, keeps dozens of museums open until 22:00 with free or reduced entry and extra programming — the single best evening in the city's cultural calendar. The Sunday paseo closes Paseo de la Reforma to traffic for cyclists and runners every week. The Zócalo hosts free concerts, screenings and installations through the year, at a scale no other square in the country can match.
Seasonal highlights. The Día de Muertos parade along Reforma in late October, the Alebrijes Monumentales procession, the Festival de México in the historic centre, and the Christmas rink and installations on the Zócalo in December.
Practical notes. Most of this is free and unticketed. Large Zócalo events close surrounding streets and saturate the Metro stations; arrive early and leave on foot.
