How to get

San Luis Potosí #199 piso 9, Col. Roma. 06700, Roma

in detail

This run has ended. Colores was a sensory experience staged by Sensorama, on the ninth floor of San Luis Potosí #199, in the Roma. It is no longer running.

What it was. A piece built on a question: what does blue taste like, what does yellow smell of, what texture does red have? Sensorama's work is experienced largely in darkness, through smell, taste, touch and sound rather than sight, with the audience led through in small groups. Colores treated colour as something to be perceived by every sense except the obvious one.

Why this company is worth following. Sensorama has built a decade of work in this format — Cuatro elementos on Mesoamerican perception of nature, Cosas que sólo de muerto se saben on Tibetan texts about dying. Their seasons rotate, usually with two or three pieces running at once and tickets in the low hundreds of pesos.

Practical notes. Performances are in Spanish, in small groups, and are booked in advance rather than walked into. Metro Insurgentes and Cuauhtémoc, line 1, serve the Roma. Check the current programme before travelling for a specific piece.
