This run has ended. Cosas que sólo de muerto se saben 2.0 was staged by Sensorama, on the ninth floor of San Luis Potosí #199 in the Roma, and is no longer running.
What it was. A sensory piece based on Tibetan texts, built around questions rather than answers: what colour is death, where in the body is it felt, how many deaths can be experienced in one life. In Tibetan cosmology life is only part of a wider process that includes dying, death itself, the state after death and rebirth; the piece used scent, colour, taste and texture to make sensory metaphors out of that cycle.
Why the theme resonates here. Mexico has its own elaborate relationship with death, expressed every 1 and 2 November in Día de Muertos. A Tibetan reading of the same subject, staged in Mexico City, sits deliberately across that.
Practical notes. Sensorama rotates its programme; performances are in Spanish, in small groups, booked in advance. Metro Insurgentes and Cuauhtémoc, line 1. Check the current season before travelling.
