Paseo de la Reforma #51, Col. Bosque de Chapultepec. 11580, Polanco-Chapultepec
This exhibition has closed. En apariencia otro México was shown at the Museo de Arte Moderno, in the Bosque de Chapultepec. It is no longer on display, and this page is kept for reference.
What the museum holds. Opened in 1964 in a circular pavilion by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, the MAM is the national collection of twentieth-century Mexican art: Tamayo, Siqueiros, Orozco, Dr. Atl, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington and — its single most famous holding — Frida Kahlo's Las dos Fridas, which is normally on permanent display.
Why it is worth the visit anyway. The building itself, the sculpture garden around it, and a temporary programme that changes several times a year. Admission is low and free on Sundays for residents. It closes on Mondays.
Getting there. Paseo de la Reforma #51, first section of the Bosque de Chapultepec. Metro Chapultepec, line 1, and Auditorio, line 7, are both a walk away through the park. The Museo Nacional de Antropología and the Museo Tamayo are a few hundred metres off, which makes a single afternoon out of all three.
