This run has ended. ¿Cómo stand? was a stand-up night at Foro Shakespeare, Zamora #7 in the Condesa, and the season is over.
The title. A pun on ¿cómo estás? — "how are you?" — which tells you the register: wordplay, informality and a crowd that is expected to answer back.
Stand-up in this city. The scene has expanded enormously since the 2010s and now fills small venues in the Condesa, the Roma and the centre several nights a week. Shows are in Spanish and the material is local: politics, the Metro, neighbourhood stereotypes, family, money. There are no surtitles.
Finding a night now. Foro Shakespeare, which has been running since 1984, programmes comedy alongside drama and family theatre and publishes its line-ups a week or two ahead. Expect a cover charge and a minimum spend; shows start around 20:00 or 21:00 and run to midnight.
Getting there. Metro Chapultepec and Juanacatlán, line 1, and Patriotismo, line 9. Parking in the Condesa is scarce, so arrive on foot or by taxi, and use an app taxi to get home.
