This run has ended. Noches de stand up was a comedy night at Foro Shakespeare, Zamora #7 in the Condesa. The season is over, though the venue continues to programme stand-up regularly.
Stand-up in Mexico City. The scene has grown enormously over the past fifteen years and now fills small venues across the Condesa, the Roma and the centre several nights a week. It is almost entirely in Spanish, and it leans heavily on local reference — politics, neighbourhoods, the Metro, family — which makes it rewarding if your Spanish is strong and hard going if it is not.
How to find a night. Foro Shakespeare, the Centro Cultural José Martí and a string of bars in the Condesa and Roma run regular comedy nights; most announce the line-up a week or two ahead. Entry is usually a low cover charge plus a minimum spend.
Practical notes. Shows start late by European standards — 20:00 or 21:00 — and run to midnight. Book for weekends. Metro Chapultepec and Juanacatlán, line 1, and Patriotismo, line 9. For the trip home, use an app taxi.
