This run has ended. La peor señora del mundo was staged at Foro Shakespeare, Zamora #7 in the Condesa, and the season is over.
What it was. A stage adaptation of Francisco Hinojosa's 1992 children's book — one of the best-known Mexican children's books of the last half-century, about a woman so appalling that the townspeople finally work out how to defeat her by doing exactly what she says. It is funny, cruel and entirely unsentimental, which is why children like it.
Where to find children's theatre now. Foro Shakespeare programmes family theatre regularly, usually on weekend mornings, and so do the Centro Cultural Helénico, the Teatro Orientación in Chapultepec and the Teatro de la Ciudad. Tickets are inexpensive and the weekend morning slot is the one to look for.
Practical notes. Performances are in Spanish. Book ahead for weekend family shows, which sell out. Metro Chapultepec and Juanacatlán, line 1, and Patriotismo, line 9. Parking in the Condesa is scarce.
